Experience Missouri’s winemaking history first-hand with a guided tour of Mount Pleasant Estates. An experienced tour guide will take you through the winery’s beautifully landscaped grounds and many historic buildings. Learn about early winemaking techniques and how Mount Pleasant makes its award-winning wines today.
Founded in 1859, Mount Pleasant is located in the Augusta Appellation, the first government-appointed wine-growing district in the United States. The original hand-dug cellars were completed in 1881. They were built from the wood and abundant limestone in the area. Also on property is the “oven house” where bricks were made and used to make the foundations of the original winery buildings.
